"Evidence of Things Not Seen" is a cycle of 36 songs by Ned Rorem for solo voices and piano, using texts of 24 different poets including Auden, Colette, Whitman, Baudelaire, Yeats, and Wilde. Commissioned in 1997 by the Library of Congress and the New York Festival of Song, this work serves as a summation of Rorem's work as a composer of art song. The movements are arranged in three groupings, entitled: "Beginnings", "Middles", and "Ends". Kara is the mezzo-soprano soloist with Robert Frankenerry as music director and pianist.

Opera Theater is reprising it's flamenco adaption of Bizet's famous opera, which premiered during the first Summerfest in 2012 to sold-out audiences. Kara, who was hailed "an electric presence" by the Post Gazette, and tenor James Flora reprise their roles as the ill-fated lovers Carmen and Don Jose. Performed in English with chamber orchestra, this production is going on tour to funky and intimate venues around the greater Pittsburgh area!

At each station, passengers will learn about another facet of opera. Interactive sessions will teach about Costumes, Stage Design, Set Building and music learning, which culminates in an interactive performance of CARMEN, where Kara is singing the title role.

A Sonomosaic of works of Leonard Bernstein exploring themes of life, love, and peace. The centerpiece of the program is the one-act, TROUBLE IN TAHITI, where Kara will perform the role of "Dinah". The balance of the program will include beloved selections from Candide and West Side Story, art songs, short instrumental works including a movement of Prelude, Fugues, and Riffs, and several vocal  arrangements by Robert Page.

Kara will sing all solos in Welsh composer Karl Jenkin's 2008 composition. Like some of his other works, his Stabat Mater includes both traditional Western music as well as ethnic vocals, this time focusing on the Middle East. This performance will be performed with full chorus and orchestra.

Kara will perform "Dritte Dame", one of the Queen of the Night's mysterious "Three Ladies", in THE MAGIC FLUTE, the last opera Mozart ever wrote. Sung in German with English dialogue and translations projected above the stage.

Kara is a guest artist for "The Matador's Prayer", featuring works of Turina, de Falla, Rodrigo and other Spanish composers. As part of the concert, the new Artistic and Executive Director of Albany Pro Musica, Jose Daniel Flores, will recite poetry of Garcia Lorca and the award-winning painter Scott Foster will be painting live to the music (starting during rehearsals and finishing up at the concert). Instrumentation includes guitar, string trio, flute and harp. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for students.

SABINA, Errollyn Wallen's latest opera in progress (about the relationship between Carl Jung and Sabina Spielrein) is having a libretto reading and excerpts of the music performed. The librettist, David Pountney, will also be stage directing. Afterwards there will be a panel discussion. Kara will be performing the title role in this workshop.
